Betsy and Sibin’s Puerto Rico wedding is coming up super fast….right after New Year’s. I’m excited to be shooting their San Juan wedding. And looking forward to some warm weather (just a little bit). We managed to sneak this shoot in ahead of their January destination wedding in one of my favorite areas to shoot. It was nice to see Jane’s Carousel up and running again after Superstorm Sandy flooded the park.

Wednesday, December 12th, 2012Marcella and Brendan, Photo Shoot Around New York
Monday, October 12th, 2009Marcella and Brendan are from Hong Kong and will be getting married there next July. Since Brendan is studying at Columbia Business School they thought it would be fun to do their wedding portraits around New York City. I photographed their friends’ wedding last spring and Michelle had put Marcella in touch with me. I’m not sure they had any idea what they were getting in for….I think they now can appreciate the work that models do each day. It was a long but fun day and we managed to get great shots in a variety of locations including Bow Bridge in Central Park and Fifth Avenue. The highlight of Marcella’s day may have been the burger at at the Central Park Boathouse though!
Jessie & Humberto’s wedding in Long Island City, New York
Monday, August 17th, 2009Jessie and Huberto got married on my birthday and I was totally taken by surprise to be asked to blow out a candle on a birthday cupcake (some of the best chocolate I’ve had in a long while!). It tells you what kind of thoughtful people they are. They had some interesting elements to their wedding day including a skeleton bride and groom as a decorative piece. When I asked about that Jessie explained it was the idea of “till death do us part”.

Nellie & Jim / DUMBO, Brooklyn
Tuesday, June 16th, 2009When Nellie and I talked about her upcoming portrait session with her fiance, Jim, she expressed concerns about how awkward they might feel posing for the camera. I kept reassuring her that I always make it a fun and relaxed shoot even if I have to tell bad jokes to make them laugh! After discussing several locations we settled on the Brooklyn neighborhood of DUMBO. DUMBO is one of my favorite places for portraits both for the great views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the cobblestone urban street scenes. They ended up having a lot of fun posing for the photos. We were having such a great time that once we got done we headed for pizza and beer at the famous Grimaldi’s pizza place next to the Brooklyn Bridge. Lucky for us there wasn’t the usual long line out front.
